Perspectives. Week Five. Day two.
We finished watching Luther today. At the end of it it said “Today, 540 Million people worship in Churches inspired by Luther…”
My mind took me back to Monday night at Perspectives. Guess how many unreached people groups there are? 6,900; 16,150 at most.
Guess how many Churches in the United States with under 200 members there are? 350,000.
You do the math. That’s a 50:1 ratio.
What has God commanded us to do? What, you don’t know? Look up Matthew 28:18-20.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
So why aren’t Christians going? There are people out there who need to hear! There are fields ripe for the harvest! We have been given a command by Jesus, and in order to obey Jesus, do we not have to obey this command?
“Therefore, Go and make disciples of ALL the nations!” And don’t just go once on a mission trip – return to plant Churches so they in turn can bear fruit and plant more Churches… until the WHOLE EARTH knows of God’s glory!
If Jesus is our passion, and passion is something we’re willing to suffer for… then why are we afraid? Why are we afraid to suffer for Jesus?
We have been sent. Will we not go?
